This event was held at Woodside School.
Many thanks to Mr Sandy Burr, Head Teacher and the staff at Woodside for hosting this event. We enjoyed the use of your new equipment in the hall.

Great to hear that recent programme of hardware renewal is to be built on over the next three years.
Now we need to start addressing issues such as pupil access to e-mail/ forums/ blogs/ instant messaging. We often need to teach them but currently have heavily resticted access if at all.

Yes it was good to hear about the hardware renewal although I hope that installation won’t be a problem. As regards e-mail/forums and instant messaging, an excellent resource for primary children (safe, paid for by LTS and quite addictive) is Superclubsplus.com . There is Goldstarcafe for secondary but I am not sure if this has been funded. Definately worth a look!

Glow will bring e-mail, forums, instant messaging for pupils – we will need to ‘allow’ all of these. These will need to be included in strategy and aslo understood by those administering systems. We also need to encourage responsible use and alert pupils to safe use of the internet.
We will probably have to wait for glow for e-mail and instant messaging as there will be changes occurring then and schools will have good broadband connections but we could do something about blogs before then. I will look into it.
